Misha Mavashi is one of the most famous representatives of right-wing rap in Russia. His pseudonym comes from the karate kick mawashi geri. Misha Mavashi used to say that he was a supporter of a healthy lifestyle and had been in prison. However, after the first albums the healthy lifestyle rap fashion waned, Mavashi drastically changed his style: he grew a beard and started writing more about nationalism. **Northern Man**

In 2021 he [announced](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVdecz-Iz00) the creation of an association of Russian people “Northern Man” so that “Russian people would stand up for people like Roman in the subway”. It was famous fight in the Moscow metro with the natives of Dagestan, during which the passenger Roman Kovalev interceded for a girl and was beaten. Misha Mavashi recorded a music (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbHUSUhh7Tg) with the same name and is now raising money to launch his organization.

**Ideology**

Misha Mavashi was born in Kazakhstan, as was another famous Russian nationalist, Vladislav Pozdnyakov. He began his musical career in 2009 as a rap performer, but positioned himself as a poet who uses the stylistics of rap culture as a tool to convey his poems. Initially Mavashi’s lyrics were typical of Russian gangsta rap: drugs, dealers, homicidal, street concepts, police. And the suggestion to legalize ganja was there too. Then he found a profitable niche in the rap market and became a nationalist. He has become known as one of the main advocates of healthy lifestyles, who is willing to aggressively defend his beliefs.
