Gianluca Savoini is an Italian politician and journalist, whose name emerged in 2018 in a series of [journalistic](https://espresso.repubblica.it/protagonisti/gianluca_savoini/) inquiries for an alleged involvement in a commercial negotiation between Russian and Italian companies, that led to illicit funding of Italian political parties, in particular the Lega .
Between the late 1980s and early 1990s, Savoini approached far-right groups; in particular he began to frequent the Orion group, gathered around its founder, the neo-fascist militant Maurizio Murelli.
During the 1990s, Savoini was not the only member of the Orion group to join the ranks of the Northern League, among others, for example, Mario Borghezio.
Collaborator and consultant for foreign countries first of Umberto Bossi and then of Roberto Maroni, who succeeded to the position of secretary of the Carroccio party, in 2013, Savoini became spokesperson for the newly elected secretary Matteo Salvini.
