The UEN I was initiated and overwhelmingly dominated by the post-fascist italian Allianza Nazionale (AN) who cooperated here with the danish Dansk Folkeparti (DF), the latvian Nacionālā Apvienība (NA) and the estonian Eestimaa Rahvaliit (ER), one of the predecessors of the Eesti Konservatiivne Rahvaerakond (EKRE). After some MEPs of the polish Prawo i Sprawiedliwość (PiS) used their pre-accession observatory period in the EP accompanying the group of the European People’s Party (EPP), they finally joined the UEN I when Poland actually entered the EU in 2004.
