The Nationalist Movement

The Nationalist Movement (DN) is a young organisation of a Russian nationalists which was created on July 2, 2020 as “the political response of the Russian Nation to the extension of the reign of the anti-people dictator Vladimir Putin”. The Nationalist Movement uses a black flag as well as historical symbols of Russia and the Russian people.

On September 9, 2020, at a meeting of the Council of the Nationalist Movement, Vladimir Basmanov was elected leader. His real name is Vladimir Potkin and he is a younger brother of a famous right-wing politician and a leader of a former biggest nationalist organisation DPNI (Movement Against Illegal Immigration) Alexander Belov (Potkin). Vladimir himself has been in exile since 2010.

Thus, the Movement of Nationalists is trying to become the successor of the largest Russian nationalist organizations DPNI (2002-2011) and the ethno-political association Russkie (2011-2015). Nowadays all activity of DN turned into “agitraids” in Moscow, St. Petersburg and some other cities (Voronezh, Krasnodar, Novorossiysk, Novosibirsk). The members of DN ofthen wrote slogans “Russia without Putin and Russophobia” and “Stop bringing in migrants” on the walls, put stickers with links to their telegram channels, and handed out flyers with the DN program to passersby.

Although the [program](https://vk.com/topic-196819360_41875518) of the Nationalist Movement is a standard set of nationalist clichés, the organisation has attracted the attention of outspoken Nazis, such as former National Bolshevik Mikhail Pulin, who stood at the origins of the organization.

The number of the movement is unknown, the telegram [channel](https://t.me/nationalism3000) has 3,000 subscribers, the main Vkontakte [group](https://vk.com/nationalism3000) has 6,700 subscribers.
