Although the Euro Right alliance brought new communication and interchange on a European level, it was unsuccessful with regard to the EP. The italian MEPs of the MSI were the only European mandates gained and they remained non-attached to any group in the first directly elected parliament.

The long-lasting exclusion by other parties and parliamentary groups, the so-called cordon sanitaire, led to the situation, that the majoritarian group within the group of non-attached MEPs originated (in almost every election period) from the far right end of the spectrum. There have always been non far right non-attached mandatees too, who will not be documented here.
