The ECR group, initially founded by the british Conserrvative Party and the polish PiS, should be a pragmatic EU-critical alternative to the group of the European People’s Party (EPP) which both once were part of. From the beginning on it embraced far right parties like the latvian Nacionālā Apvienība (NA).
