The MELD has evolved practically out of the EFD group in 2011, apart from the british UKIP and the dutch SGP all EFD group members were involved in its foundation. But the focus of work remained on the group and the parliament. The MELD did scarcely any public relations, reporting or documenting. It wasn‘t recognized much from the exterior either, which is surprising taking into account that parties like the Lega Nord, the greek LAOS, the slovak Slovenská Národná Strana (SNS) and others put an obvious extreme right stance on the project.
