The ECR group made a definite step further into the far right when parties like the dutch FvD, the spanish Vox, or (already at the end of the past legislature) the italian FdI. At the same time the number of its MEPs was shrinking from its all-time high 77 before the ep elections in may 2019 to 61 in the new legislative period (as of 5/2021).
