Egor Holmogorov is a well-known Russian nationalist who coined the term “Russian Spring” to refer to the events in eastern Ukraine in 2014 that led to the annexation of Crimea and the creation of the DNR and LNR. He advocated open intervention of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. In August 2015, the Security Service of Ukraine included Kholmogorov in the list of cultural figures whose actions pose a threat to the national security of Ukraine.
**Bio**
Holmogorov studied at the Faculty of History at Moscow State University in 1992-1993 and at the Faculty of Biblical and Patrological Studies at St. John the Evangelist Russian Orthodox University in 1993-1994.
During the 1990s he worked as a part-time history teacher, as a clerk in the Orthodox bookstore in the humanities building of Moscow State University, and as a janitor at the Institute of Physical Education. In the early 1990s he held liberal-democratic views. In 1993, he went out to support Yeltsin against the Supreme Soviet, but was disappointed in his policies.
He has been engaged in journalism since 1994: he is the author of numerous publications dedicated to the analysis of the current political and religious situation in Russia, the philosophy and ideology of conservatism, the history of Russia and the Russian Orthodox Church. His first publications were in the newspaper Segodnya and the magazine Alpha and Omega.
**Nationalist career**
In the fall of 1997, he met another famous russian nationalist Konstantin Krylov, with whom, in 1998, he created the Russian nationalist website Doctrina.Ru. Since 1998 he has been developing the ideology of Russian nationalism as orthodox, conservative and at the same time democratically oriented. At the same time on the issue of the state structure is a monarchist. In 1999 he wrote the brochure “Right Turn. A Program for Right Livelihood, Healthy Economics and Fair Policies” for Alexei Ulyukaev, then deputy ideologist of market reforms Yegor Gaidar.
In January-May 2003, he was the editor of the “Society” section of the newspaper “Konservator”. Since July 2003, he has been the author and presenter of the daily informational and analytical program Politics on Radio Troika (105.2 FM). In 2004-2007, he was political observer at the Mayak radio station. In October 2005, he ran for the Moscow City Duma on behalf of the Free Russia party in the December 4, 2005 elections. The party got 2.2 percent of the vote and failed to pass the 10 percent barrier.
On November 4, 2005 he took an active part in holding the “Russian March”. Holmogorov walked at the head of the march columns with a list of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God and was among the speakers at the rally.
Since May 2007 he is the lead author of the website “Russian Project” of the party “United Russia” and from October 2007 to February 2008 he is the editor-in-chief of the website. Since July 19, 2007, he’s been moderator of “Russian Club” established originally within “The Russian Project”. In February 2008, he announced the cessation of “The Russian Project” in its old format. Since April 2008, he’s been the editor-in-chief of the internet-portal New Chronicles. In June 2008, he founds the online magazine Russian Observer.
On February 6, 2012, he took part in a meeting of Russian political analysts with Vladimir Putin, who held the post of prime minister at the time. At the meeting, he entered into a discussion with the prime minister regarding his understanding of Russian nationalism, proposing, in particular, the mentioning of the Russian people in the Constitution.
In March 2012 at an organizational conference of the National Democratic Party of Russia, he was elected a member of the party’s organizing committee and appointed a person authorized by the Ministry of Justice to form the party. On September 16, 2012 he resigned and left the party.
From 2012 to 2013, he co-hosted a tv sow “Wasserman’s Reaction” program on NTV. From January 2014 to September 2016 he was a regular columnist for Izvestia newspaper and a columnist for the Russian News Service radio station. Since 2017, he has been a columnist for Tsargrad TV, where he hosted the daily political review “Holmogorov. Itogi”, the weekly program “Movies with Holmogorov”, and the program “Editorial Duty”. Since November 2017, member of the Board of the Society for the Development of Russian Historical Education “Two-headed eagle”, headed by Konstantin Malofeev. Since April 2021 he has hosted the TV program “Egor Stanislavovich” on the TV channel “Russia Today”.
