Philippe de Villiers is a former member of goverment (under Chirac, 1986/87), member of Parliament (1988-94 and 1997-2004), elected regional representative (Vendée, 1988-2010) and member of the EU parliament (1994-97, 1999, 2004-2014). Between 2014 and 2018 he headed the Mouvement pour la France, a political party he created. He is known for his conservative positions, his defense of the “Christian roots” of France, his opposition to Islam and immigrants.
